We are seeking a highly motivated chemist to join our team. The successful candidate will focus on the development of high-purity semiconductor crystals for next-generation quantum computing applications. The role requires expertise in inorganic synthesis, strong skills in solid-state chemistry, crystal growth techniques, and advanced materials characterization.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform and optimize crystal growth synthesis pathways, achieving consistent high-yield results.
Plan and execute experiments systematically, including varying single parameters to optimize performance.
Commit to reaction timelines, which may occasionally require evening or weekend work.
Follow established protocols with precision, prepare technical reports and keeping detailed laboratory notes to ensure conditions and results are traceable maintaining reproducibility in all experiments.
Collaborate with physicists and engineers to tailor material properties for quantum computing applications.
Conduct comprehensive material characterization using techniques such as SEM/EDS, TEM, STM, Raman, and pump-probe spectroscopy.
Ensure safe laboratory practices, proper chemical storage, and compliance with safety regulations.

Education
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
PhD-level candidates will be considered.
Technical Skills:
Strong background in synthetic inorganic chemistry, ideally with semiconductors or rare earth metals.
Demonstrated success in optimizing synthesis pathways for nanomaterials (nanoplatelets, micro/nano-particles).
Exceptional record-keeping and written communication skills.
Familiarity with chemical reagents and understanding of their roles in synthesis reactions.
Proficiency in advanced material characterization methods.
Knowledge of chemical storage, safety protocols, and safe use of laboratory apparatus.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Location & Work Arrangement:
This full-time position is on-site in Winston-Salem, NC. Relocation assistance may be available for exceptional candidates. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
