Senior Quantum Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Quantum Engineer to lead the design, integration, and scaling of our quantum hardware systems. As a senior technical leader, you will combine hands-on engineering with strategic system-level insight, driving the development of microelectronic and RF architectures for quantum control and readout. You will play a pivotal role in defining design choices that shape the company’s platform and set the standard for engineering excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead system design and development of advanced RF and microelectronic circuits, resonant cavities, and waveguide systems for quantum control and readout.

  • Integrate across analog, digital, and RF domains to deliver low-noise, high-stability performance in deployable systems. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software and FPGA teams to ensure seamless control, synchronization, and data acquisition workflows.

  • Develop automation, calibration, and test infrastructure to accelerate experimental iteration and system validation. 

  • Establish engineering standards and workflows for the company’s new facility, including best practices for design, simulation, testing, and documentation.

  • Mentor and guide engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and collaboration.

  • Contribute to long-term platform strategy, helping to define scalable architectures and design principles for future generations of quantum hardware.

  • Education

    • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Quantum Engineering, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills:

    • 8+ years of experience in RF, microelectronics, or quantum hardware development.

    • Strong foundation in RF design, resonant cavities, and waveguide systems.

    • Proven success in hardware-software integration, FPGA-based control, and embedded systems.

    • Skilled in HFSS, COMSOL, ADS, Altium, KiCad, and programming in Python or C/C++.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    • Ability to lead by example, mentoring, communicating clearly, and driving technical progress across teams.

    • Motivated to shape a company’s early trajectory and build technology that redefines the edge.

Location & Work Arrangement:

This full-time position is on-site in Winston-Salem, NC. Relocation assistance may be available for exceptional candidates. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
